The e-bikes are amazing! You get to set your own level, so one rider can get a workout in, while another can basically beach cruise uphill. After the ride we were both talking about getting e-bikes! I’ve been coming to Maui for years but never experienced anything like it. For anyone who thinks Maui is only about beaches and sunshine, this tour will completely change your perspective. Coming from a BC kid who spends most mornings riding the trails at SFU, I can confidently say this adventure holds its own against some of the best riding back home. The landscape on this ranch is surreal; we escaped the resort scene and experienced the wild side of Maui. The ride took about 3 hours, and it was just my family of six in a private group. This was such a cool experience! I don’t have much mountain biking experience and I’d never been on an e-bike before. Honestly, I thought the bike would just kind of take off and do most of the work for me, lol. Not quite. The pedal assist helped a ton — there’s no way I could’ve done this on a regular mountain bike — but it was still definitely a workout. I consider myself moderately fit, but most of my movement is walking and a couple weightlifting classes a week. I am not a cardio person, and there were a few stretches where my heart was really going. But wow… it was so worth it. The view from the top is unreal, and because it’s on private property, this tour is literally the only way to see it. Honestly one of the top three things to do on Maui. I did the Grand Tour, which was the more challenging ride. They also offer a beginner tour if you want something easier, but still awesome. I love that they have options so anyone can enjoy this. I joined The Experience Tour as a total beginner – I had never done any mountain biking before – and it was definitely challenging for me, but absolutely worth it. Franck was an excellent guide: calm, encouraging, and very clear in his explanations. He took the time to show us how to use the e-bike properly (changing gears, adjusting the assistance, using the dropper seat) and checked in regularly to make sure everyone felt safe. The climbs were physically demanding at times, especially while I was still learning to control the bike, but I always felt supported and never rushed. The views were stunning, with beautiful panoramas over Kihei, La Perouse and Molokini, and the mix of lava fields, ocean and open landscapes made the effort really rewarding. The bikes were in great condition, very responsive and fun to ride, and the overall group atmosphere was super positive. What a fun and accessible Maui experience. The tour guides brought us to an area that (it seems) no one else goes. There are views out over the ocean and to the other islands as well. We started in the morning so temps were cool. And, the electric bikes make you feel like you're a pro-rider. The terrain is mellow.
